Brain Awareness Week

The CSNE co-sponsored the 2012 University of Washington Brain Awareness Week Open House on March 7, 2012.  During this event, 600 elementary, middle and high school students visited exhibits set up by faculty, students and staff.   Dr. Lise Johnson, CSNE Education Manager, demonstrated how EMG signals can be used to control a small car remotely.  The laboratories of Drs. Michael Dickinson and David Perkel were also represented at the open house.  Other organizations that participated included the Hope Heart Institute, the Allen Institute for Brain Science, the University of Washington Departments of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Biology, Otolaryngology,  Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology Program, UW Institute for Learning and Brain Sciences, UW Medicine Regional Epilepsy Center, Seattle Hydrocephalus Support Group,  Pacific Science Center,  Northwest Association for Biomedical Research, UW Bloedel Center, UW Chapter of Unite for Site, VISIONEYES Pre-Optometery Club and Neurobiology & Behavior Community Outreach.
