NSF Grant Opportunity - Neural Engineering

The National Science Foundation Biomedical Engineering program is soliciting proposals to fund projects in neural engineering (brain science, computational neuroscience, brain-computer interface, neurotech, cognitive engineering).  According the program guidelines,

Ensuring the Full Participation of People with Disabilities

Ensuring the Full Participation of People with Disabilities: Resources for CSNE Personnel by Dr. Sheryl Burgstahler, DO-IT Director, is now available to CSNE members.   This new resource contains links to useful web sites that can make products, programs, instruction, and resources welcoming and accessible to individuals with disabilities.  CSNE members must log in to the CSNE web site to access this new material.

DARPA Grant Opportunities

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting proposals in response to two requests for information:
 

New Course: Personal Robotics Clinic: Algorithms & Applications

A new course at the University of Washington will be offered by CSNE member, Dr. Joshua Smith.  The course (CSE 599 J) is titled "Personal Robotics Clinic: Algorithms & Applications."

CSNE/DO-IT Event

On March 16, 2012, students, parents and staff of the Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking and Technology (DO-IT) program enjoyed an evening at the CSNE learning about neural engineering.  Here is a video made by DO-IT students about the event:

Brain Awareness Week

The CSNE co-sponsored the 2012 University of Washington Brain Awareness Week Open House on March 7, 2012.  During this event, 600 elementary, middle and high school students visited exhibits set up by faculty, students and staff.   Dr. Lise Johnson, CSNE Education Manager, demonstrated how EMG signals can be used to control a small car remotely.  The laboratories of Drs.
