Dr. Jaideep Mavoori (Neurovista)

Dr. Jaideep Mavoori (Senior Research Scientist, Neurovista will visit the CSNE and present a seminar "Bits, Bugs and Brains."  Seminar abstract:

Dr. Mavoori will provide snapshots from his research with brain-computer interfaces in academia and at a medical device startup.  As a doctoral researcher at UW, Dr. Mavoori developed miniature implantable electronics for understanding the brain-muscle puzzle in naturally behaving primates and flying insects.  At NeuroVista, he developed algorithms for seizure prediction, extracting pharmacodynamics and sleep-wake rhythms in canines and humans.  The algorithms rely on intra-cranial brainwaves (iEEG) being collected by a fully-implanted medical device technology developed at NeuroVista and which is in clinical trials currently.  NeuroVista has accumulated over 20 human-years of continuous iEEG.  Dr. Mavoori will also present some exciting exploratory research endeavors which are ripe for academic and industrial collaborations.
