The Center sponsors summer research experiences and community outreach events and develops K-12 curricula related to neural engineering, neuroscience, and STEM career awareness.
Our goal is to foster an interest and awareness in neural engineering within the K-12 community. Through our programming, we aim to develop a diverse, engaged, and scientifically-literate pool of students who can enrich university and industry pipelines within neural engineering disciplines. Through our partnerships with the University of Washington’s Math Science Upward Bound program and DO-IT program, we aim to serve students that are traditionally underrepresented in STEM and students with disabilities.
Each summer, we offer a Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program for middle and high school teachers and a Young Scholars Program (YSP) for high school students. These summer programs place classroom educators and high school students into Center laboratories to assist with ongoing research projects.
