Council of Deans

Consisting of deans for all contributing programs, this group coordinates Center activities in education, hiring, student recruitment, and research with the missions of their colleges. Because of the Center’s strong interdisciplinary nature, this council ensures that faculty members have appropriate support (mentoring for interdisciplinary studies, adequate information flow regarding tenure and promotion), communicates Center goals/outcomes to higher level administration, and assists in long-term, sustainable planning for development activities, faculty and student recruitment, and infrastructure.

Student Leadership Council

This group plays a key role in providing feedback on the efficacy of the Center’s educational mission.  It will help establish tier-groups (i.e., small research groups that consist of graduate students, high school and middle school students) that guide the development and implementation of curricula and assist in coordinating student rotations among the labs.  The Student Leadership Council also recruits students to serve as ambassadors of the program to affiliate institutions (such as Morehouse, Spelman, and Southwestern Colleges).
